I thought I’d try out some of the energy bars from Thrive Fitness. I used them at the Open 5 and they worked very well. My attempt came out pretty runny, not quite a gel, not quite solid. I rolled into bite size balls and wrapped in cling film and it worked very well. Very easy to eat. You can either unwrap or just bite into the wrapping and squeeze out. There is a bit of a risk of them popping and covering everything in mush, but all my pouches survived their first outing.
Banana Ginger Energy Bar
- 3/4 cup Medjool dates (I used smaller, normal ones)
- 2 tbsp grated ginger
- 1 small banana
- 1/2 sunflower seeds (I didn’t have these, used walnuts instead)
- 1/4 hemp protein
- 3/4 cup sprouted buckwheat (I have no idea what this is, I used some cooked qunioa)
- sea salt
Process together. Roll and cut into bars. You are supposed to leave for a while to dry out, I think this is where I went wrong.
- 2 tbsp sesame seeds
Sprinkle with sesame seeds
